Prime Minister Narendra Modi on June 6, 2019 approved reconstitution of government’s policy think tank NITI Aayog, including Home Minister Amit Shah as ex-officio member and dropping full-time member Bibek Debroy.
Besides Shah, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman and Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar have also been included as ex-officio members of Niti Aayog.
The Prime Minister has retained other full-time members including V K Saraswat, Ramesh Chand and V K Paul. NITI Aayog Vice-Chairman Rajiv Kumar will also continue to hold his post.
Bibek Debroy, who has been dropped from the panel this time, was appointed as a full-time member when NITI Aayog was formed.

About NITI Aayog
NITI Aayog is the premier policy think tank of the central government and it provides both directional and policy inputs to the government.
The policy think tank was set up in 2015, replacing the planning commission. NITI Aayog provides relevant technical advice to the Centre and states and designs strategic and long-term policies and programmes for the central government.
The first chairman of Niti Aayog was Arvind Panagariya. He was replaced by Rajiv Kumar in September 2017.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will soon be chairing the fifth meeting of Niti Aayog's Governing Council on June 15, 2019 to discuss various issues concerning water management, agriculture and security.
The Governing Council comprises all chief ministers, lieutenant governors of union territories, several union ministers and senior government officials.
This will be the first governing council meeting under the new Modi government.
